Dave Pegg and Fiona Lloyd started Wolverine Publishing in 2002, first making guidebooks covering the climbing in our backyard, in Western Colorado, then quickly branching out to iconic areas across the country. Hueco Tanks and the Red River Gorge were two of our earliest books. Since those early days, we’ve published over 40 titles on climbing, skiing, and paddling.
Dave was an accomplished climber on the Sheffield scene in the UK in the 1990s, coming over to the US first to climb and work at Climbing Magazine, editing the “World Service” column, among other duties. Jeff Achey was also an editor at Climbing at the time, beginning a friendship with Dave that lasted until his tragic death in November 2014.
After a two-year transition period, in March of 2017 Jeff Achey and Amber Johnstone bought the business from Fiona. Between them, they have over 60 years of climbing experience, and look forward to carrying on a great tradition: authoritative info, user-friendly design, fine photography, the highest production values, and abuse-proof binding.
